The announcement was formally approved by the Governor of Lagos State and Visitor to the University, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu . The decision was conveyed in an official statement signed by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mr. Emmanuel A. Fanu, dated Sunday, February 15, 2026.
