Monarchs’ National Council Appoints Alara, Oore as Southwest Coordinators

By Nudoiba Ojen The National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria has appointed Coordinators for Southwest. The coordinators are the Alara of Ilara-Epe, Lagos State, Oba Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo; and the Oore of Otun Ekiti and the Paramount Ruler of Mobaland, Ekiti State, Oba Adekunle Adeayo Adeagbo. The appointment of the two frontline monarchs was announced in Abuja on Monday during a Special Meeting of the Council having in attendance select traditional rulers from the six geo-political zones of Nigeria. The Chairman of the Council, the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Alhaji (Dr) Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar and the Co-Chairman, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunmusi, Ojaja II, congratulated Oba Ogunsanwo and Oba Adeagbo on the appointment. Lagos State Government to Ban Danfo and Korope Buses on October 1.

By Sultan Oluwaseunayofunmi , The Lagos State Government has said there’s no going back on the planned enforcement banning operations of all unregulated commercial bus operations, such as  Danfos and Koropes, along the Lekki-Epe corridor, from October 1, 2024. The special adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on transportation, Sola Giwa, disclosed this in a chat with Vanguard on Saturday, July 14.  He said that the reminder on the planned ban, which is in line with the Lagos State Strategic Transportation Master Plan (STMP), was to dismiss rumours that the move had been suspended. Giwa stated that a stakeholders’ meeting was held with bus operators and union leaders on their need to comply before October 1 to successfully regulate and integrate the informal transport sector into the State’s Bus Reform Initiative using the corridor as a pilot test.
