Okemagba Muslims Stage Historic Mega Rally to Celebrate Birth of Prophet Muhammad

By Sultan Teslim

The Muslim communities of Okemagba came alive on Thursday, September 4, 2025 (12th Rabiul-Awwal 1447AH), as thousands of faithful converged in a colorful mega rally to mark the birth of Prophet Muhammad (Mawlid an-Nabī).

The event was spearheaded by Monba-un-Ridoh International, under the leadership of its founder and Chief Missioner, Al-Khalifa Sheikh AbdulGaniy Dan Musa Alayaki, in collaboration with DAZWAT, led by Sheikh Abdulsalam Shafihi Zambo, and JAZWAB, led by Sheikh Ahmod Abdulhammed Ajagbemokeferi.

The rally commenced simultaneously from Odo-Ayan, Ibonwon, and Ilara communities at 7:00 a.m., with participants marching through major streets. At Ibonwon Central Mosque, members of JAZWAB joined forces with Monba-un-Ridoh before proceeding to Ilara, where they were received by DAZWAT. Communities such as Ibonwon, Odo-Shiwola, Odo-Ayan, Ilara, and Igbooye all participated in the grand procession.

Speaking to reporters, Sheikh Ajagbemokeferi explained that the rally aimed to raise awareness about the significance of Prophet Muhammad’s birth while fostering love, peace, and unity among Muslims and the wider society. He further noted that the initiative, introduced four years ago by Sheikh Alayaki, has steadily expanded to include multiple communities.

Echoing this sentiment, Sheikh Zambo described the rally as “one of a kind,” emphasizing its role in strengthening bonds within and beyond the Muslim Ummah. He assured that next year’s celebration would be “even more organized and larger in scale.”

Community voices also highlighted the spirit of collaboration. Alfa Kamiz Hamed of Ibonwon praised the unity of the three missioners who came together from different communities to ensure the success of this year’s event.

For Hassanat Taiwo, Ameerat of Monba-un-Ridoh International and member of the Ibonwon Young Muslim Initiative, the growth of the program has been remarkable.

> “This initiative started modestly four years ago, but today, it has spread across all Okemagba communities. I was particularly amazed by the massive turnout from Igbooye,” she said.

The mega rally ended on a note of gratitude and renewed commitment, with participants expressing hope that the tradition would continue to inspire unity, devotion, and community development in the years to come.
