OBA ADERIBIGBE ASUNMO IS INDEED A VERY YOUTHFUL 60 YEARS-OLD - SANWO-OLU

The Alayandelu of Odo Ayandelu, Oba Aderibigbe Ganiu Asunmo (Jemade I), has celebrated his 60th birthday anniversary, with the unveiling of Omolade Mosque, he singlehandedly built to the glory of God and humanity.

 At the colourful event, held on Sunday, 7th August, 2022 no fewer that 30 traditional rulers from across various kingdoms joined the celebrant and other eminent personalities, top government functionaries, policy makers, politicians, subjects among others to celebrate the milestone.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, of Lagos State, Nigeria in his goodwill message at the 'August occasion', said that the opening of the Omolade Mosque, by Oba Asunmo, on his birthday, shows his piety to Almighty Allah, love for his people and service to humanity.

Represented by the Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folashade Adefisayo, Sanwo-Olu, said with the gesture, it is a testimony to royal majesty, appreciates all what Allah has done for him.

According to him, this is exactly 10 years after his majesty celebrated his golden jubilee, while thanking God for his faithfulness in the life of the monarch, as he celebrates his diamond jubilee.

His words: "Thank God for this 60 years of God's faithfulness and to celebrate the opening of the mosque, is a testimony to the fact that his royal majesty appreciates all what Almighty Allah, has done for him".

Continuing, he said: " In the words of Oscar Wyse, 'with age comes wisdom, but sometimes age comes alone'. Another person said, 60 is the youth of old age and we can see that our Kabiyesi, is indeed a very youthful 60 years-old".

"As, we pray that more wisdom is bestowed on you, as you grow. We, also pray that it will come only with wisdom and not worry; that it will come only with wealth and not weakness; that it will come with peace and not trouble; that it will come only with hope and not despair and also remind you again that God, has been faithful", Sanwo-Olu, said.

The governor, prayed that Oba Asunmo, who is the Secretary, Lagos State Council of Obas and Chiefs, " will live in good health and enjoy longer life".

He added: "That Almighty Allah will prolong your age; build your body; illuminate your heart; establish your faith; make your deeds good; put you close to goodness and keep you from evil. Grant your need in religion in this world and beyond".

Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman, Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Honourable (Akogun) Wale Raji Anomo, who doubles as the chief host, wished Oba Asunmo, a prosperous; profitable and progressive 60th birthday anniversary celebration on earth.

While eulogizing the celebrant, as a quintessential king; a king with a difference and apart from being the people's king, the Council boss, added that whenever he discuses any issue with him, its always about the development of Odo Ayandelu kingdom in particular and Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA in general.

The paramount ruler, of Odo Ayandelu, has been a very wonderful father. His presence and ruler ship of Odo Ayandelu, has bring so many tremendous development and growth to the community and its environs.

On behalf of the good people of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, management and staff, Executive and the Legislative arm of government, I say a very beautiful thank you to Kabiyesi. Thank you for being a father with a difference.

"Thank you for being a quintessential royal father, a role model. We, appreciate you, we love you and we wish you happy birthday, once again", Anomo, said.

On her part, the Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folashade Adefisayo, who joined in the celebration of 60th birthday anniversary of Oba Asunmo, disclosed her relationship with the monarch, over the years, adding that the celebrant, has been so close to her.

Said she: "I will also like to add as Commissioner for Education, that his royal majesty, has been so close to me. He has supported me, in various ways". 

"He has called on me, and I have tried to do my best to stand by him. Anytime he calls on me, I just have to heed his call because I can see that everything about his royal majesty, is for the greatness of his kingdom", she said.

The Commissioner, commended eminent guests that turn out to honour the celebrant and royal fathers that came in large numbers to honour one of their own.

Among the royal fathers in attendance is the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, who led the pack, Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal (Laminisa I); Elejigbo of Langbasa, Oba Hafeez Olakunle Badiru (Kajerojaiye I); Elejinrin of Ejinrin, Oba Rafiu Balogun (Ejalonibu I); Olosoroko of Osoroko, Oba Ebenezer Olusegun Oyiri (Igi Aje I); Onimedu of Orimedu, Oba Toheeb Isa Oyedele, and all royal fathers in Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, to mention but a few.

Other eminent guests, were the representative of the Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Olayiwole Onasanya, Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC); his counterpart from the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board, Dr. Mustapha Ibrahim; Chairperson, Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, Olori Sijuade Akanke Anomo; Apase of Epe Land, Chief Shakiru Akanni Seriki; Hon. Wale Raji; Hon. Abiodun Tobun.

Others are the Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams; representative of the Alara of Ilara, High Chief Adebola Owolabi Talabi, Olisa of Ilara; Baale of Ladeba; Olu Agbegise, among others.
