HON. TOBUN MUSTAIN ABIODUN EMBRACE THE NTYTR MOVEMENT DURING TOWN HALL MEETINGS WITH THE YOUTH OF HIS CONSTITUENCY

On Friday 27th September 2024, the Not Too Young To Run (NTYTR) Epe Chapter organized a town hall meeting with Hon. Abiodun Tobun, honorable member House of Assembly representing Epe Constituency I, at Magville Hotel Hall, Payinegba Avenue, Epe, Lagos in other advocate for the youth needs and involvement of youth in governance.
#NotTooYoungToRun is a global campaign that advocates for an alignment of the age requirement for running for political office with the official voting age. The ultimate goal of the Campaign is to contribute to achieving greater youth representation and participation in political leadership.
The campaign aims to mobilize young people and relevant stakeholders around the issue of youth political participation and inclusion. At global level, the partners seek to: Raise awareness on the state of youth in public office through creating a knowledge platform of global statistics concerning youth and politics, as well as the barriers to participation by country; Advocate to end discrimination against, and discriminatory attitudes and practices toward young people running for public office and for increased participation of young people in politics and government; Gather input and ideas from young people around the world with regards to their participation in political decision-making processes through a public consultation online;
The movement maintains a non-partisan identity as a social movement committed to political inclusion transformative politics and leadership. The movement is driven by its core values which are Solidarity, Patriotism, Inclusion, Responsible Leadership, Integrity and Trust.
The NTYTP Epe Chapter therefore had a town hall meeting with the elected representative that is representing the constituency, Hon. Tobun Abiodun Member of House of Assembly Epe Constituency I, in other to create interactive platform for students and youths to interact with their legislator, to advocate for legislative action on employment enable environment entrepreneur and access to quality education. To sustain youth interest in politics and democracy.
The town hall meeting which was anchored by Mr. Kawajue T. a popular presenter of Radio Lagos (Epe Lawa) Ikeja. Speaking at the meeting, Hon. Tobun Abiodun was happy that the youth of Epe are living up to expectation by ensuring that the movement exist in Epe. He emphasized that youth inclusiveness is not negotiable and power is not served freely. If youths doesn't get involved or rise to expectation no one will call. He made know that, the number in attendance of the town hall meeting is not the total number of Epe youth, it's those who have volunteered to join the movement that are here and there is need to create more awareness among youths.
On education, the government is trying by providing platform for conducive learning like library, e-learning centers but are the youth making use of it. He implore the youth to use the internet more for education purposes than social vises
Furthermore he speak on employment opportunities which he said "the government is trying it little quota in providing employment but the youth also should be creative in other to provide jobs for themselves and reduce unemployment”. He also uses the opportunity to encourage the youths both male and female to stay away from cultism and other bad characters, -to be determined, work hard, be a goal setter and be visionary.Com. Agara Abdul-Kareem commended the efforts of the Hon. Tobun in attending the town hall meeting and the privilege given to the youth of Epe to speak with their legislator openly without any fear. He listed the challenges the youth of Epe are facing and some practical solutions to it.
Abdul-Salam Mustapha who was also at the event appreciate Hon. Abiodun TOBUN for honoring the invitation and the good works he has been doing in making Epe move forward. He call the attention of Hon. Abiodun TOBUN to the poverty alleviation he used to do for the people of Epe, which doesn't occurred anymore, he also pinpoint the issue of WAEC forms he used to give out that is no more in existence but instead of that its JAMB and coaching fohr JAMB.Another attendee, Damilola Nathaniel, who told Hon. Tobun Abiodun about the need to develop sport activities and it infrastructure in Epe, in other to engage them in sporting activities which will reduce the act of hooliganism among youths. He also urge Hon. Abiodun TOBUN to help promote agriculture among youths.
Hon. TOBUN was delighted with the organizer of the meeting and advice the youth to be more focus to achieve their dreams, also he agreed with the youth on comprehensive training for some of the youth on technical skills and IT programs which are going to be control and manage by National Youth Council (NYCN) coordinators. Also there will always be a regular interface with the youth in the community in other to educate them to shown social vises like cultism, gambling hook-up etc.
