Celebrating Community Spirit: The Inaugural Sikiru Musa Road Street Carnival

By Sultan Teslim
On December 24, 2024, the residents of Sikiru Musa Road in Ibonwon came together for a day of joy and celebration at their very first street carnival. This vibrant event was designed to foster unity and togetherness, allowing neighbors to appreciate one another while embracing the festive spirit of the yuletide season, even amid the challenging economic landscape.
Alhaji Sikiru Musa, who played a pivotal role in the event, expressed his gratitude to the organizers and committee members who worked tirelessly to make the carnival a memorable success. With just two weeks of planning, the remarkable turnout and the community’s financial and moral support showcased the strength and generosity of the residents.

During the festivities, Alhaji Musa emphasized the importance of community collaboration in achieving greatness. He declared Sikiru Musa Road a trailblazer, hinting that next year’s carnival would turn into a friendly competition, further igniting community spirit.
Arakunrin Oluwaseunayofunmi shared his thoughts with our correspondent, highlighting how the carnival brought love and unity among the residents. "Everyone is laughing and celebrating together, momentarily setting aside their individual challenges. It would be wonderful if this spirit of togetherness continues even beyond the holiday season," he remarked.

The event also featured esteemed community figures, including Alhaji Surajudeen Ibrahim Buhari and Chief Badiru Sharafadeen, who provided guidance and support throughout the festivities. The youth were represented by Com. Wahab Ismail and his vice, Com. Tunde (02), adding to the carnival's vibrant atmosphere.
