Sketel Brings New Roads, New Hopes to Epe Constituency II

By Sultan Teslim
In Ibonwon, Epe Constituency II, the atmosphere was charged with excitement as hope rolled in — quite literally — on the promise of new roads. Hon. Oluwadaunsi Ogunkelu, fondly called Sketel, has once again shown that leadership is about service, not slogans.

At a well-attended stakeholders’ meeting, the lawmaker announced the facilitation of three critical road projects: Sikiru Musa Road, Lanre Odubote Road, and Nazareth Road. For residents who have long endured the challenges of poor road networks, the news was more than an announcement — it was a breath of relief.

“My resolve to use this office to better the lives of my people is unwavering,” Hon. Ogunkelu declared with conviction. “These three roads will open up the Ibonwon axis, boost local development, and make life easier for everyone. And this is just the beginning — more projects are coming.”

A Lawmaker with an Eye on the People

Ogunkelu’s passion was evident as he urged residents to cooperate with contractors who are set to commence work immediately. Beyond the tar and gravel, he emphasized that these projects symbolize the dividends of democracy reaching everyday people.

Leaders Applaud, Community Rejoices

The event turned into a gathering of gratitude and commendations. Hon. Dele Onabokun, former Lagos State Commissioner for Works and Housing, praised Ogunkelu’s consistency and urged contractors to engage the local workforce and source materials within the community so that “the benefits go beyond the roads.”

Chief Wasiu Ayo Odeyemi, APC Apex Leader, described Sketel’s gesture as a sign of genuine representation, while former House of Representatives member, Hon. Lanre Odubote, highlighted the importance of continuity in governance.

Traditional rulers were not left out. The Alade Uraka of Poka Kingdom, Oba Kolawole Aliru, and the Ogegbo of Ibonwon both applauded the legislator for lifting the face of development in their domain, urging him to sustain his pace.

Gratitude and Partnership

In his closing remarks, Ogunkelu expressed gratitude to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his relentless support and infrastructural drive across Lagos State. His words struck a chord, as the gathering reflected on how government and community partnership can transform lives.

For the people of Ibonwon and the larger Epe Constituency II, these roads are not just about smoother rides; they represent progress, opportunity, and the fulfillment of promises. And with Sketel at the helm, many believe that the journey to a better Epe has only just begun.
