Renowned Islamic scholar and academic, Prof. Nosirudeen Onibon, has officially launched his new book titled “Audacity to Lead, Courage to Serve,” a thought-provoking work aimed at redefining leadership values and promoting ethical governance in Nigeria.
The book was unveiled on Saturday at the Eko FM Multipurpose Hall, Lagos, in the presence of distinguished academics, political leaders, traditional rulers, and members of the public. The event drew a cross-section of stakeholders committed to advancing purposeful leadership and national development.
According to the author, the publication underscores integrity, courage, accountability, discipline, and the fear of God as indispensable pillars of effective leadership in contemporary society. He noted that beyond critiquing leadership failures, the book provides practical guidance for leaders and citizens alike, emphasizing moral responsibility, transparency, and good governance at all levels.
A Timely Contribution to Leadership Discourse
Chairman of the occasion, Senator Olorunnimbe Mamora, described the book as a timely intervention in Nigeria’s evolving leadership discourse. He commended Prof. Onibon for offering practical insights capable of guiding both current public office holders and aspiring leaders toward responsible governance.
Academic Depth and Practical Wisdom
In his review of the book, Prof. Abdulkadri Abikan, Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, praised the publication for its rich blend of academic depth and practical wisdom. He described it as a valuable resource for scholars, policymakers, and leadership enthusiasts.
Prof. Abikan highlighted the book’s exploration of the intersection between ethics, law, and leadership, noting its strong emphasis on justice, fairness, and accountability as foundations for good governance.

Also speaking at the event, Mr. Wale Raji, Member representing Epe Federal Constituency, lauded the author for contributing meaningfully to national development through intellectual engagement. Raji encouraged young people to cultivate values that promote unity, progress, and sustainable development within their communities, stressing that leadership begins with character and responsibility.
Similarly, Mr. Abiodun Tobun, Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Epe Constituency I, described the book as a practical guide for political office holders and public servants. He noted that the publication emphasizes discipline, vision, and commitment as essential traits for effective leadership.

In his goodwill message, Oba Olufolarin Ogunsanwo, the Alara of Ilara Kingdom and Chancellor of Lagos State University, commended the author for producing a work that seeks to reshape leadership values in Nigeria.
The monarch stressed that traditional institutions have a vital role to play in promoting ethical leadership and fostering unity at the grassroots level. He noted that the themes of courage and service highlighted in the book align with the expectations placed on leaders in both traditional and modern governance systems.
