ADC Governorship Primary: Princess Islamiyat Oyefusi Sweeps Epe LG Poll Amid Massive Jubilation

The governorship primary election of the (ADC) recorded a massive turnout of party faithful across Epe Local Government as members gathered simultaneously at Epe Constituency 1 and Epe Constituency 2 to decide their preferred governorship aspirant ahead of the forthcoming Lagos State governorship election.

The keenly contested exercise featured three prominent aspirants seeking the party’s governorship ticket. They include , and .

Party members from different wards across Epe trooped out in large numbers to participate in what many described as a peaceful, transparent and well-coordinated democratic exercise. The atmosphere at both venues reflected the growing interest of party supporters in the future of the ADC in Lagos State.

However, the primary election at Epe Constituency 2 particularly witnessed overwhelming support for Princess Islamiyat Abiodun Oyefusi, as party members openly declared their confidence in her leadership capacity and political vision for Lagos State. Observers at the venue noted the enthusiasm and solidarity displayed by women, youths and grassroots mobilizers who rallied strongly behind her candidacy throughout the exercise.

Speaking shortly after the primary election, a party member, Mrs. Ibiyemi Ìdòwú, expressed her excitement over the outcome of the poll. According to her:

“What a man can do, a woman can do better. It is the turn of a woman to lead and make Lagos State a better place.”

At the end of the voting process, the results announced for Epe Local Government showed that Hon. Ali Afeez Olasunkanmi Salis secured 509 votes, while Hon. Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour polled 664 votes. Princess Islamiyat Abiodun Oyefusi emerged with a commanding 1902 votes, making her the winner of the ADC governorship primary election in Epe Local Government.

The outcome immediately sparked widespread celebration and jubilation across the venue, especially among women supporters who danced, sang and praised the emergence of Princess Oyefusi as the preferred candidate of the people in Epe.

Political observers believe the result from Epe Local Government sends a strong signal about the growing acceptance and popularity of Princess Islamiyat Abiodun Oyefusi within the ADC grassroots structure. Nevertheless, the final emergence of the party’s governorship candidate will depend on the cumulative results from other local governments across Lagos State.

As anticipation continues to build among party members and political stakeholders, many residents of Epe have described the exercise as a major step toward strengthening internal democracy within the ADC while also amplifying the voice of women in leadership and governance.
