Princess Islamiyat Oyefusi Declares Lagos Governorship Ambition on ADC Platform, Promises Transparent Leadership and Inclusive Development

The governorship hopeful made her declaration on Thursday at the ADC National Secretariat in Abuja while obtaining her nomination form, marking a significant step in her political journey and further intensifying political activities within the party ahead of its primary elections.
According to her, the move came after extensive consultations and careful reflection on the pressing need for responsive leadership capable of addressing the aspirations and challenges facing the people of Lagos.She emphasized that her ambition is rooted in democratic values, people-oriented governance, and a commitment to sustainable development that benefits every segment of society.
“This decision followed careful consideration and a deep commitment to public service, democratic principles, and the advancement of Lagos,” she stated.Princess Oyefusi further explained that her vision for Lagos is built on the principles of transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance, stressing that citizens deserve a government that listens, responds, and delivers impactful policies.
The ADC aspirant identified several critical areas that would form the foundation of her administration if elected governor. These include strengthening institutional accountability, promoting economic growth, creating employment opportunities for youths, improving access to quality education and healthcare services, and implementing policies that ensure no community is left behind.
She noted that Lagos, as Nigeria’s economic nerve centre, requires visionary leadership capable of balancing rapid urban development with social welfare and equitable opportunities for residents across all sectors.
“My vision for this office includes strengthening institutional accountability and good governance, promoting economic growth and job creation, enhancing access to quality education and healthcare, and ensuring inclusive policies that address the needs of all constituents,” she said.
Oyefusi also used the occasion to reaffirm her loyalty to the party’s constitution, guidelines, and electoral processes, assuring party leaders, delegates, and stakeholders of her commitment to a transparent, peaceful, and credible primary election process.
“I am fully committed to abiding by the constitution, guidelines, and code of conduct of the party and the electoral process,” she affirmed.
Appealing for broad-based support from party executives, stakeholders, and supporters across Lagos State, Oyefusi described the governorship race as a collective mission aimed at repositioning the state for greater progress and inclusive prosperity.
“I respectfully seek the support of the party leadership and stakeholders as I present myself for this important responsibility,” she added.
Her declaration comes at a time when political activities are gradually gathering momentum within the ADC, with aspirants across several states obtaining nomination forms ahead of the party primaries.
Political observers believe Oyefusi’s entrance into the race could further reshape conversations around leadership, governance, and alternative political platforms in Lagos State as preparations for the next gubernatorial election continue to build momentum.
