ROYAL GRATITUDE: Alara of Ilara Commends Okemagba Community for Grand Reception Celebrating His Historic LASU Chancellor Investiture

His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo (Telade IV), the Alara of Ilara Kingdom, has expressed profound appreciation to the people of the Okemagba Community for the warm reception and elaborate celebration organised in honour of his historic investiture as the 6th Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU).

The royal appreciation came during a colourful gathering that brought together traditional rulers, community leaders, youths, women groups, professionals, and other distinguished personalities who assembled to celebrate what has been widely described as a landmark achievement for Ilara Kingdom, Epe Division, and Lagos State at large.

In his address, the revered monarch described the reception as a remarkable demonstration of unity, loyalty, and communal pride. He noted that the overwhelming show of love and solidarity by the Okemagba Community reflected the enduring bond among the people and reaffirmed their collective commitment to the progress and development of the kingdom.

Oba Ogunsanwo stated that the honour bestowed upon him by Lagos State University is not a personal achievement alone but a recognition shared by the entire Ilara Kingdom and all sons and daughters of Epe Division. He stressed that the celebration serves as an inspiration to future generations, encouraging young people to pursue academic excellence, integrity, visionary leadership, and selfless service to society.

The monarch further reaffirmed his commitment to using his new position as Chancellor to promote educational excellence, innovation, youth empowerment, strategic partnerships, and sustainable development. He pledged to continue supporting initiatives capable of strengthening higher education while creating opportunities that will positively impact students and communities across Lagos State and beyond.

Oba Ogunsanwo also lauded the leadership of the Okemagba Community for organising a befitting reception, describing the event as a symbol of harmony, cultural pride, and communal solidarity. He encouraged residents to sustain the spirit of cooperation and peaceful coexistence that has continued to distinguish the community.

Community leaders, while speaking during the event, congratulated the Alara on his historic appointment, describing him as an accomplished administrator, visionary traditional ruler, and passionate advocate of education whose wealth of experience will further elevate the profile of Lagos State University.

The leaders expressed confidence that his tenure as Chancellor would usher in greater institutional growth, academic innovation, and stronger collaboration between the university, traditional institutions, government, and development partners.


Oba (Dr.) Olufolarin Ogunsanwo made history following his appointment as the 6th Chancellor of Lagos State University, becoming the first traditional ruler to occupy the prestigious position in the institution's history. Since his appointment, the monarch has consistently articulated a vision centred on educational transformation, youth development, technological advancement, global partnerships, and excellence in university governance.
