NNPCL Raises Petrol Pump Price to ₦905 per Litre Amid Supply Disruptions
By OkemagbaNews
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has once again adjusted the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, across its retail outlets.
OkemagbaNews gathered that NNPCL stations in Wuse Zone 4 and Zone 6, Abuja, have increased the price of petrol from ₦890 to ₦905 per litre — reflecting a ₦15 increment or approximately a 1.7 per cent rise.
Speaking on the development, the President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Alhaji Abubakar Maigandi, attributed the upward review to supply disruptions linked to an ongoing dispute between the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) and the Dangote Refinery.
According to Maigandi, independent marketers are currently dispensing petrol within the range of ₦885 to ₦895 per litre despite the challenges.
“The price adjustment is a result of the supply disruption caused by PENGASSAN’s strike. However, most of our members still sell between ₦885 and ₦895 per litre,” Maigandi explained.
It will be recalled that the recent two-day strike by PENGASSAN was prompted by a conflict with the Dangote Refinery over the alleged mass dismissal of Nigerian workers. The industrial action significantly affected the distribution chain before the Federal Government’s intervention led to its suspension.
With the latest price adjustment, Nigerians may face another round of increased transportation costs and inflationary pressures as fuel prices continue to fluctuate amid ongoing industrial and supply challenges.
