Ogunkelu Breaks Ground for 250-Capacity Ibonwon Town Hall, Fully Funds Landmark Community Project

Member representing Epe Constituency II at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Sylvester Oluwadahunsi Ogunkelu (SKETEL), on Saturday officially performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the proposed Ibonwon Town Hall in Ibonwon community, marking a major step in grassroots infrastructural development within the constituency.

The project, which is fully and personally funded by the lawmaker, is aimed at providing a permanent civic center to strengthen community engagement, social interaction, and local administrative coordination in Ibonwon and neighbouring areas.




Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Ogunkelu described the Town Hall as a strategic intervention designed to promote inclusive governance and sustainable development. He stated that the facility would serve as a central venue for community meetings, developmental deliberations, cultural programmes, and official engagements.

According to him, effective representation extends beyond lawmaking to delivering practical and visible impact at the grassroots level. He noted that the Town Hall project reflects his continued commitment to empowering communities and improving social infrastructure across Epe Constituency II.

The proposed Ibonwon Town Hall, upon completion, will feature a main hall with a seating capacity of 250 people, a functional stage for cultural and official events, and two fully furnished offices to support administrative and community activities.

The ceremony attracted prominent political leaders, traditional rulers, stakeholders, and residents of the community.

Among dignitaries present were the Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, Hon. Wale Raji Anomo; the traditional ruler of Ibonwon, High Chief Ganiyu Lanotu (Ogegbo of Ibonwon); Hon. Alhaji Wasiu Ayodele Odeyemi (WASTAB), APC Apex Leader in Epe Constituency II; Prince George Olusegun Oshifeko, MD/CEO of ProCare Suites/Resort; Hon. Dele Ọnabokun, former Commissioner for Housing; Hon. Agbaraojo, APC LGA Chairman, Epe; Chief Taiye Olukoya; Mrs. Adeseye Margaret, Director, Lagos State Fire Service; councillors of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA; as well as other notable indigenes and community stakeholders


Community representatives at the event commended the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful. They expressed optimism that the Town Hall would enhance social cohesion, facilitate effective community dialogue, and promote collective development efforts.

The groundbreaking ceremony further underscores the growing collaboration between the lawmaker and constituents of Epe Constituency II, as residents look forward to the completion of what is expected to become a symbol of unity and progress in Ibonwon community.
