The pupils and teachers abducted in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State have regained their freedom, bringing relief and renewed hope to their families, school community, and residents of the area.
The development was confirmed on Friday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, who announced that the victims had been successfully rescued by security agencies.
In a brief statement shared through his verified X handle, Onanuga disclosed that all the kidnapped pupils and teachers had been freed following the intervention and efforts of Nigeria’s security operatives.
“Finally, all the kidnapped pupils and teachers in Orire, Oyo have been rescued by our security agencies,” he stated.
The rescue has been met with widespread relief as concerns had continued to mount over the safety and wellbeing of the victims since their abduction.
However, as of the time of filing this report, further details surrounding the rescue operation remained unclear. Authorities have yet to disclose the circumstances that led to their release, whether any ransom was demanded or paid, and the specific security measures employed in securing their freedom.
Meanwhile, security agencies are expected to provide additional updates on the operation as investigations continue and efforts remain ongoing to strengthen safety measures within communities across Oyo State and other affected regions.
The successful rescue of the pupils and teachers adds to ongoing discussions on the need for improved security coordination, intelligence gathering, and proactive measures to protect schools and vulnerable communities across the country.
