By Nudoiba Ojen The National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria has appointed Coordinators for Southwest. The coordinators are the Alara of Ilara-Epe, Lagos State, Oba Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo; and the Oore of Otun Ekiti and the Paramount Ruler of Mobaland, Ekiti State, Oba Adekunle Adeayo Adeagbo. The appointment of the two frontline monarchs was announced in Abuja on Monday during a Special Meeting of the Council having in attendance select traditional rulers from the six geo-political zones of Nigeria. The Chairman of the Council, the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Alhaji (Dr) Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar and the Co-Chairman, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunmusi, Ojaja II, congratulated Oba Ogunsanwo and Oba Adeagbo on the appointment. By Sultan Oluwaseunayofunmi , The Lagos State Government has said there’s no going back on the planned enforcement banning operations of all unregulated commercial bus operations, such as  Danfos and Koropes, along the Lekki-Epe corridor, from October 1, 2024. The special adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on transportation, Sola Giwa, disclosed this in a chat with Vanguard on Saturday, July 14.  He said that the reminder on the planned ban, which is in line with the Lagos State Strategic Transportation Master Plan (STMP), was to dismiss rumours that the move had been suspended. Giwa stated that a stakeholders’ meeting was held with bus operators and union leaders on their need to comply before October 1 to successfully regulate and integrate the informal transport sector into the State’s Bus Reform Initiative using the corridor as a pilot test. It was a big opportunity for the Okemagba community of Eredo LCDA, Epe, Lagos as Community Medics visited to give free medical checkups, for over 400 individuals within Ibonwon, Ilara, Igbo-oye Odo-shiwola, Odo-iyangunshin, Odo-gbawojo Ora, Odo-ajogun and Odo-Ayan Saturday 1st of June 2024 was a blessing for clans of the Okemagba community both old and young, as the Community Medics arrived at the Ibonwon town in Eredo LCDA Lagos State. The team which was led by Princess Islamiyah Abiodun Oyefusi, Chairperson Soul Lifter Foundation, arrived the community despite the delay they encountered on their way from Ikorodu. This advocacy started at around 7:15 am to meet the targeted audience which is the youth.   By Sultan Teslim The remains of the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland on Friday afternoon were laid to rest at his Aliwo ancestral family home. The late monarch, who reigned for two years, joined his ancestors at the age of 81 on Thursday night at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, after a brief illness. The Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Alhaji Abdulganiyu Agbotomokekere led the Muslim faithful to pray for the late monarch before he was interned. Present to witness the late monarch’s burial is the Oyo state Deputy Governor, Mr Bayo Lawal, who led a delegation of the State Executive Council to the burial. The Olubadan in council was led by the Otun Olubadan, Sen. Rashidi Ladoja whom other dignitaries joined to pay their last respects to the departed monarch. This class was set up to prepare students of the community and its environs who aspire to gain admission into tertiary institutions. This is one of the numerous goals of the foundation as promised by the founder Mr. Felix Olugbenga Zafrani during the launching of the Foundation in November 2023 and it is set up for eight weeks, January to February of year 2024. At the end of the classes, free JAMB form will be given to students.
