Wale Raji, Member, Representing Epe Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives, distributed 384 bags of fertilizer to 384 local farmers to boost agricultural production in Epe. The distribution of the fertilizer took place in Epe, on Tuesday. According to him, 600 bags of fertilizer would be distributed to farmers across Epe Federal Constituency as part of the federal government intervention to increase food supply and security. However, 384 fertilizer has been received and all are distributed today, the remaining 216 fertilizer would be distributed to the remaining 216 farmers as soon as there are also received. Raji said that the initiative aims to improve crop yields and support the agricultural community in the region. The coordinators are the Alara of Ilara-Epe, Lagos State, Oba Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo; and the Oore of Otun Ekiti and the Paramount Ruler of Mobaland, Ekiti State, Oba Adekunle Adeayo Adeagbo. The appointment of the two frontline monarchs was announced in Abuja on Monday during a Special Meeting of the Council having in attendance select traditional rulers from the six geo-political zones of Nigeria. The special adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on transportation, Sola Giwa, disclosed this in a chat with Vanguard on Saturday, July 14.  He said that the reminder on the planned ban, which is in line with the Lagos State Strategic Transportation Master Plan (STMP), was to dismiss rumours that the move had been suspended. Giwa stated that a stakeholders’ meeting was held with bus operators and union leaders on their need to comply before October 1 to successfully regulate and integrate the informal transport sector into the State’s Bus Reform Initiative using the corridor as a pilot test.   By Sultan Teslim The remains of the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland on Friday afternoon were laid to rest at his Aliwo ancestral family home. The late monarch, who reigned for two years, joined his ancestors at the age of 81 on Thursday night at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, after a brief illness. The Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Alhaji Abdulganiyu Agbotomokekere led the Muslim faithful to pray for the late monarch before he was interned. Present to witness the late monarch’s burial is the Oyo state Deputy Governor, Mr Bayo Lawal, who led a delegation of the State Executive Council to the burial. The Olubadan in council was led by the Otun Olubadan, Sen. Rashidi Ladoja whom other dignitaries joined to pay their last respects to the departed monarch.
